Trump arrived at his soon-to-be home on Pennsylvania Avenue at roughly 11:00 am (1600 GMT), a US official told AFP.

The US president and his successor have shared an uneasy equation, with Trump questioning Obama&#39;s origins and Obama in turn describing the celebrity businessman as &quot;uniquely unqualified&quot; to be president.

After Trump&#39;s win, Obama asked Americans to back Trump and said they should now be &quot;rooting&quot; for his success.

The president elect&#39;s Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton, urged the country to give Trump a chance. She also spoke about healing the deep divisions in American society.

&quot;We owe him an open mind and the chance to lead,&quot; Hillary Clinton said in her concession speech on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, Trump huddled at Trump Tower in New York with a group of advisers, planning a transition strategy to take over stewardship of the world&#39;s largest economy. His team unveiled a website that highlights the human resource challenge facing the incoming administration under the headline &quot;Help wanted: 4,000 presidential appointees.&quot;

The site also invites the public to share ideas on &quot;Making America Great Again.&quot;&nbsp;

In the course of his campaign, Trump has pledged to deport illegal immigrants, ban Muslims from the country and tear up free-trade deals.

His populist rhetoric has gone down well with a majority of Americans.&nbsp;

Not everyone is happy, however. Thousands of demonstrators carried out marches across the countries protesting Trump&#39;s surprise win, accusing the incoming leader of racism, sexism and xenophobia.
