Currently, the immigrants get an extension of over&nbsp;two or three years even if their Green Card is pending. Once the proposal&nbsp;gets approved, about 500,000 to 750,000 Indians working on H-1B visa may have to be deported from the US.&nbsp;

&quot;The idea is to create a sort of &#39;self- deportation&#39; of hundreds of thousands of Indian tech workers in the United States to open up those jobs for Americans,&quot; said a US source briefed by Homeland Security officials as reported by McClatchy DC Bureau.
