The reverse might also be true:&nbsp;An alien civilisation may be scouring the void in search of us. Popular culture has been very imaginative about what might happen if aliens come to Earth.

But now, a scientific study is saying that aliens might be able to find us using mobile tower signals. The study has reportedly been published in 'Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society.'

The study is titled “Simulation of the Earth’s radio-leakage from mobile towers as seen from selected nearby stellar systems.”

Mobile phones have become part of our lives as they have been that of millions of others in the world. Mobile phone networks need vast array of radio transmission towers.

Part of total volume of radio signals on Earth leaks out into space as well. According to Sciencealert, waves from military radar still form the major chunk of the radio leakage from Earth. But cell power networks have fast risen to the second spot.

Each cell tower reportedly emits radio signal with power of 100-200 Watts. Given large number of mobile towers on the planet, it can be said that radio signals amounting to few gigawatts are beamed into space.

Now if we assume that an alien civilisation has reasonably sophisticated radio astronomy capabilities, the radio leakage from the Earth can be detectable within a dozen light-years or so.

This sounds exciting and scary.

So will we get a random mobile call from an alien one fine day? It looks unlikely because the sheer volume of radio waves on Earth are likely to garble up any individual message for aliens to reach one particular person.

Aliens might find us through radio signals leaked by our mobile phone towers, says study

A day after the Bangladesh Telecom Regulatory Commission (BTRC) issued orders of shutting down mobile network in the one-kilometre border of Bangladesh with India and Myanmar, the BTRC issued fresh orders asking telecom operators to restore network on Wednesday.

“Please reinstate operations of the BTS (Base Trans-Receiver Stations) near the Bangladesh-India border sites immediately,” the email to BRTC read.

On Tuesday, Bangladesh Telecom Regulatory Commission had asked telecom operators to shut down the mobile network in the one-kilometre border areas with India and Myanmar.

However, as many as 10 million people in as many as 36 districts of Bangladesh were affected due to the network shut down. As many as 1500 mobile towers were shut down and that also affected few kilometres area inside the border.

People in six districts of Bangladesh sharing its border with Indian states of Assam, West Bengal, Tripura, Mizoram and Meghalaya like Chittagong, Khulna, Sylhet, Mymensingh Rangpur and Rajshahi were largely affected.

Bangladesh authorities did not mention reasons for the mobile network shut down in border areas, however, a letter written to the BTRC stated ‘security concerns in the present circumstance’.

While Bangladesh Telecom Regulatory Commission asked telecom operators to restore services immediately, nationalised telecom service like Grameenphone and other private telecom operators like Banglalink, Robi and Teletalk have informed authorities that they will take at least one day to fully restore services.

Its arrival has caused upheaval in India's mobile telephony market, forcing some small players out of business while bigger Vodafone and Idea have responded by merging in India.&nbsp;

Competition from Jio has sent the average revenue per user (ARPU) tumbling. Jio's results for the three months to June 30 showed its ARPU - a key metric for telecoms companies - was at 122 rupees ($1.77), down 9.3% from a year ago.

"We are not in this ARPU game," Thakur said, adding that the management`s priority is to ensure that more subscribers latch on to its network and use its services, thereby creating greater "long-term value."

Jio recently topped Bharti Airtel to become India's second-biggest telecoms operator behind Vodafone Idea.

Analysts had predicted that Jio would start raising its tariffs as soon as it reached a critical mass of subscribers.&nbsp;

Thakur, however, suggested that Jio is in no mood to relent, noting that it added 24.5 million subscribers in the quarter and that its subscribers consume an average of 11.4 gigabytes of data each month.&nbsp;

"We're quite happy with these key performance indicators," he said.

Reliance also announced on Friday that Jio has sold its tower assets via an investment trust to Canada's Brookfield Asset Management for 250 billion rupees.&nbsp;

Crucial to its plans is a partnership with New York-based Verizon Communications Inc to commercialise the technology. Other firms working with Verizon on 5G include Nokia, Ericsson, Qualcomm and Intel Corp. 
 
Verizon conducts field tests this year and aims to begin deploying 5G trials on home broadband services in 2017 in the United States, likely the first 5G application commercially available before a broader mobile network standard is agreed. 
 
As the industry is yet to decide on a 5G mobile standard, Samsung plans to start by selling equipment such as base transceiver stations and home receivers for fixed wireless broadband access.
