<p>After facing withering criticism for failing to stem a flood of phony news articles in the run-up to the US presidential election, Facebook is apparently now asking users to rate the title of news stories appearing on the social network.</p>

<p>A few users on Twitter posted screenshots of the survey that Facebook is seemingly conducting to ascertain the authenticity of stories.</p>

<p>The move appears to be aimed at weeding out hoaxes and other types of false information. Facebook, however, is yet to official announce as to what all it plans to do with the survey results.</p>

<p>Facebook&rsquo;s new survey comes close on the heels of Zuckerberg&rsquo;s recent statement wherein he said that the company had been working on the issue of misinformation for a long time, thereby calling the problem complex both technically and philosophically.</p>

<p>&quot;While the percentage of misinformation is relatively small, we have much more work ahead on our roadmap,&quot; Zuckerberg had said.</p>

<p>He had also made it clear that Facebook would make it easier to report false content, work with third-party verification organisations and journalists on fact-checking efforts, and explore posting warning labels on content flagged as false by users.</p>
