The face-off took place in the forest under Kirandul police station area when a joint team of District Reserve Guard (DRG) and District Force (DF) was out on a search operation in the morning, Director General (Anti-Naxal Operations) Girdhari Nayak told PTI.

 
"When the patrolling team was advancing through the forest between Perpa and Markamaris villages, around 450 km away from the capital Raipur, it came under fire from a group of ultras that led to the gun-battle," he said.

 
After the exchange of fire stopped, the body of a Naxal later identified as Madvi Muiya alias Joga Kunjam (29), was recovered along with a 315 bore gun, he said.

 
"Kunjam, who was active as a commander of military platoon-24 of Maoists, was carrying a reward of Rs 8 lakh on his head," Nayak said.

 
He was allegedly involved in the deadly Burkapal attack on April 24, 2017, in Sukma in which 25 security personnel lost their lives, the officer added.&nbsp;

A mine protected vehicle of the C-60 commandos today came under a landmine attack allegedly by Naxals in Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra.

Officials said the incident took place in the evening near Bhamragad in the district when a patrol party of the C-60 commandos, was crossing the area.

At least 12 personnel are said to be injured in the landmine blast which targeted the armoured vehicle, they said

&quot;We are getting some preliminary reports that the troops, caught in the blast, belong to the C-60 force of the Maharashtra Police that conducts anti-Naxal operations. More details are awaited,&quot; a senior officer said.

The team of security force personnel had been conducting operations in the area. Earlier in the day, a CRPF jawan and two Maharashtra Police personnel were injured in an exchange of fire with the Naxals, the officer said, adding reinforcement is on the way.

On April 24, twenty-five CRPF personnel were killed and six wounded in Chhattisgarh&#39;s Sukma district, the deadliest attack by Naxalites targeting security forces this year.&nbsp;
