&nbspAndhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday met the family of the nine-year-old girl who was raped by a 60-year-old man in Guntur on May 2 and announced an ex-graita of Rs 5 lakh and also stated to help her for her studies.&nbsp

"Government will hold rallies across the state on Monday to create awareness among public. Stringent punishment will be imposed on those who commit such heinous crime," Naidu said.

On May 2, a 60-year-old rickshaw puller in Dachepalli of Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur district raped a nine-year-old girl. Following which, the man allegedly committed suicide on Friday.&nbsp

The body was found hanging off a tree in a field near &nbspAmaralingeshwara Swamy temple between Daida and Telikutla villages in the afternoon.&nbsp

Guntur police had said that they had a feeling that the man would commit suicide after investigating his call data record. He had told one of his relatives that he had committed a crime and was ashamed of it.&nbsp

The incident took a political turn as YSR Congress party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy held chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu responsible for the incident and said the accused could be an activist of the ruling Telugu Desam Party.

Taking cognizance of such crimes, President Ram Nath Kovind, on April 22, promulgated the Criminal Law (Amendment) Ordinance, 2018, for effective deterrence against the commission of rape.
