In a shocking case from India, doctors extracted keys, nail clippers, and even a knife from a 20-something man's stomach. The man is from the Motihari district of Bihar and doctors were shocked to see the items coming out of his stomach.

The incident came to light when the man's mother noticed that her closet keys were missing. She asked her son who told her that he had eaten them. The mother took it as a joke and didn't believe him.&nbsp;

However, he wasn't lying and an ultrasound proved it. Doctors could see not only keys but several more similar items inside his stomach. An operation was conducted and a bunch of other things were taken out of his body. This included nail cutters, more keys and even a folding knife.

"We extracted two keys, a four-inch long knife and two nail cutters from his stomach. When we asked the youth, he said he recently started swallowing metal objects. Now the youth is alright and his condition is improving," Dr Amit Kumar, who headed the surgery, said.

Despite the man ingesting metal objects and a delicate operation, he is recovering well at the hospital.&nbsp;

The boy's mother and the doctor say his social media addiction was to blame for the act. The doctor who conducted the operation said that social media seems to have taken a toll on his mental health and led him to perform weird acts.

His mother said that he spent too much time on his phone and that had an effect on him.&nbsp;

Dr Kumar said, "The youth was undergoing psychiatric treatment. X-ray reports revealed the presence of metal objects in his stomach."

Meanwhile, doctors say that the man's condition could also be linked to a mental health problem called pica, which makes a person eat things that aren't edible. People most prone to the disease include young children, pregnant women and those suffering from autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disabilities and even schizophrenia.
