Popular Indian singer Lucky Ali took to his X (formerly Twitter) handle and opened up about feeling "lonely" as a Muslim. The 65-year-old also said that the world wouldn't hesitate to call him a terrorist just because of his religious identity.

"It's a lonely thing to be a Muslim in the World today. It's a lonely thing to follow the sunnah of the Prophet, your friends will leave you, the world will call you a terrorist," wrote Lucky Ali.

Unaware of the context of the note, some fans took to the comment section to extend their support and assure him that he was not alone.

"Ustaad ji there are good people and there are bad people. For whatever it's worth, coming from a nobody like me, you are a legend and always will be. And every good person is a good person. Period. Doesn't matter he ls lucky Ali or lucky Sharma," a fan commented.

A third comment read, "Does that even matter? And if your friends are leaving you, they were never your friends. You should be thankful that because of your religious belief, you're able to understand the psyche of people around you, otherwise all throughout life you'd have been in dilemma."

Lucky Ali says it's a lonely thing to be Muslim today: 'World will call you terrorist'

Indian singer Lucky Ali has apologised for upsetting "my Hindu brothers" through a now-deleted Facebook post he had made on Sunday. He expressed regret for causing offence and clarified that his intention was not to hurt anyone's religious sentiments. He said that his remarks were rooted in his personal interpretation of historical and linguistic links among various religious customs, and not meant to diminish or dispute the convictions of others. The 'Bekaraar' singer added that he will exercise greater discretion in his online posts and language, as he now realises that his words have caused significant distress to members of a community.

His full post read, "Dear Everyone , I realise the controversy of my last post. My intentions were not to cause distress or anger amongst anyone and I deeply regret that. My intentions, instead, were to bring us all closer together… but I realise how it didn't come out in the way that I meant it. I will be more aware of what I am posting and of my phrasing as I see now that it has upset many of my Hindu brothers and sisters. For that I am deeply sorry. I Love you all."

On Sunday, Ali had said that the name "Brahman" ultimately derives from the name "Abram" which comes from the Biblical figure of Abraham or Ibrahim, who is considered the father of all nations. He also implied that the Brahmins are descended from Ibrahim.
