Delhi University&rsquo;s Ramjas College on Tuesday called off a seminar&nbsp;after members from the students&rsquo; union protested the participation of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) students Umar Khalid and Shehla Rashid. Khalid was booked for sedition last year for allegedly raising anti-India slogans during an Afzal Guru event at the JNU campus.

The students had&nbsp;failed to inform Delhi Police and the police only arrived at the venue after being alerted by college authorities, according to media reports.&nbsp;

He was expected to speak in the afternoon on &ldquo;The War in Adivasi Areas&rdquo; at an event organised by the Literary Society of Ramjas College.

However, members of the Delhi University Students&rsquo; Union (DUSU) and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) --&nbsp;a student organisation affiliated to the Hindu nationalist Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) --&nbsp;reached the campus and began protesting before he could even arrive at the venue.

&quot;Ramjas college cannot see the likes of Umar Khalid talking here. He talks of dividing the country. We were going to hold a silent priest against this and alerted the college principal about it,&quot; college president and ABVP member Yogit Rathi told the media.&nbsp;

Ramjas College authorities said they were forced to cancel the event. College principal Rajendra Prasad told the media that the two JNU students&rsquo; lectures were cancelled because of protests as well as advice from police that the situation could go out of hand.
