Acting on intelligence that suspected terrorists were moving from Pulwama's Pakherpora toward Yousmarg, troops from the Army, J&K Police, and CRPF cordoned off the Ashdar Gali area. Vigilant soldiers spotted suspicious movement, challenged the group, and were fired upon — triggering a fierce gunfight.
