<p>The vice chancellor of Jawahar Lal Nehru University has asked the government for a tank.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The vice chancellor, M Jagadesh Kumar, would like for the tank to be installed on campus so that it can instill, among students, a &quot;love for the Army&quot;.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The request was made during an event on campus Sunday commemorating Kargil Vijay Diwas.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The event was attended by, among others, cricketer Gautam Gambhir, union ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and VK Singh, and Major General (retd) GD Bakshi.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In his address to the audience, which included the family members of Army veterans and soldiers who had made the supreme sacrifice, the Times of India reported Gambhir as saying: &ldquo;I believe in it (freedom of speech) but there are certain things, like the respect of the national flag which are non-negotiable. No one should comment against the army.&quot;&nbsp;</p>

<p>The TOI reported Pradhan as saying he was surprised by the change in JNU, where slogans like `Bharat Mata ki Jai&#39; are now being raised.</p>

<p>The TOI said Bakshi proclaimed &ldquo;victory over JNU&ldquo;, for which he gave credit to the VC.&nbsp;</p>

<p>&ldquo;There are many forts like Jadavpur and Hyderabad university which our army will capture,&quot;&nbsp;the TOI reported him as proclaiming.&nbsp;</p>
