<p>Video footage of the crash showed thick grey and black smoke billowing from the plane's wreckage.&nbsp;</p>

<p>ANI added that the Jaguar had taken off from Gorakhpur air force base, and that the pilot was able to eject safely.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A court of inquiry has been ordered into the crash.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Jaguar is a British-French attack jet aircraft originally used by the British Royal Air Force and the French Air Force in the close air support and nuclear strike roles.&nbsp;</p>

<p>It was manufactured by France's Dassault Aviation and the UK's British Aircraft Corporation</p>

<p>It was retired by France in 2005 and the UK in 2007. It continues to be used by the Indian Air Force, albeit in significantly upgraded form.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In India, the Jaguar was manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited.&nbsp;</p>
