<p>The NASA scientist was born in Inglewood, California. His parents had migrated from Puerto Rico during the 1960s.&nbsp;</p>

<p>On September 20, Puerto Rico was hit by hurricane Maria, which has completely disrupted the lives of people on the island.</p>

<p>With 150 mph winds,&nbsp;the powerful category 4 hurricane has devastated the island leaving severe scarcity of water, food, cell service, and electricity.</p>

<p>Acaba has always expressed his concern and affection for his ancestral homeland.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Acaba&#39;s twitter handle describes him as a NASA astronaut training for third spaceflight, US Marine Corps, Reserve- hydrogeologist- peace corps volunteer. He further adds that his favourite job is to teach maths and science.&nbsp;</p>

He also said that he took Puerto Rican flags with him to the International Space Station, claiming that no Puerto Rican can travel without their Puerto Rican flags. He added that soon the space station would look like Puerto Rico with all the flags.?
