A German court on Wednesday sentenced an Iraqi preacher to more than 10 years in prison after finding him guilty of taking part in planning an attack in Germany and collecting funds and fighters for the Islamic State militant group.

The US State Department today designated Hajji 'Abd al-Nasir as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist(SDGT). The State Department in a statement said the US has imposed sanctions on foreign individuals who have committed or pose a significant risk of committing "acts of terrorism".
