Following the protests in Chennai against the IPL match on Tuesday, the police have registered case against lyricist Vairamuthu Ramasamy, director P Bharathiraja and MLA Karunas including 500 others involved.

The case has been registered in the Triplicane police station near Chennai.

Also, 21 workers of Naam Tamilar Katchi who were holding protests against the match have been arrested and sent to the Puzhal Central Prison in Chennai. They are also charged with beating up policemen on duty.

Protests were staged in Chennai on Tuesday against the conduct of IPL matches between Kolkata and Chennai.

The protests were carried out amid rising demand for Cauvery Management Board.The state has been protesting for long&nbsp;against the government for not setting up the Cauvery Management Board despite the Supreme Court's direction.

Over hundreds of activists of pro-Tamil outfits like Tamizhaga Vazhvurimai Katchi (TVK), Naam Tamizhar, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) and some Muslim groups staged road blockade at the arterial Anna Salai and TTK Salai. 
Tamil film celebrities, director Bharathirajaa and national award-winning lyricist Vairamuthu among others also joined the agitation.
