India has reported its first case of BA.4 Omicron variant in India, according to the recent data by the Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genomics Consortium (INSACOG), the group of genetic laboratories that are working to identify new variants of SARS-CoV-2 from Indian Covid positive patients.

After a relatively stable trend in the Covid 19 cases, India is recording a rise in the number of infections dominated by the omicron variant. A total of 58 000 Covid 19 cases were reported in India in the last 24 hours this is a 55 percent increase in cases in just one day.
