A 16-year-old Muslim boy was stabbed to death by a mob on a Mathura-bound train. Four others were injured in the incident.

Junaid and three of his brothers, Hashim, Shakir, and Mohsin, were on their way back to Ballabgarh, Haryana, after Eid shopping in Delhi when a fight erupted over seats.

Hashim said a group of 15-20 people boarded the train at Okhla and asked the four to vacate the seat, which led to an argument.

&ldquo;One of them pushed my brother Junaid. He initially thought that it was unintentional as the bogie was crowded. But when he did it again, my brother asked them to behave. The man got angry and threw Junaid&rsquo;s skull cap on the floor. The man started calling him an anti-national and asked us all to vacate the seat,&rdquo; Hashim was quoted as saying by the Hindustan Times.

The attackers repeatedly called us &quot;anti-nationals&quot; and &quot;beef eaters&quot;, threw our skull caps on the floor. They caught our beards and taunted us with terms such as &quot;mulla&quot;, the four injured told the Hindustan Times.

Junaid&rsquo;s brother Hashim told reporters the mob ignored their repeated pleas that they were not carrying beef.

&quot;They were pointing at a packet which had food and saying we should not be allowed to sit since we were carrying beef,&quot; Hashim said.

The incident took place on Thursday evening.

&quot;The fight started over seats. We are looking into the matter and we have arrested one of the accused who is a 35-year-old old man from Haryana,&quot; Ajay Kumar, a government railway police official told AFP.
