For the first time in recent history, the main nursery of Arctic sea ice in Siberia has yet to start freezing even thought the month of October is soon to end. Scientists believe that the delayed annual freeze in the Laptev Sea has been caused due to the protracted warmth in the northern part of Russia and the intrusion of Atlantic waters.
