Eleanor Coppola, ace-director, documentarian and filmmaker, is no more. Eleanor, the wife of Hollywood's renowned filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola died on Friday at her home in Rutherford, California. She was 87.

Coppola's death was confirmed by her family in a statement. No cause of death has been revealed.&nbsp;

In her career spanning over decades, Coppola earned a lot of acclaim for documenting her husband Francis's movie. One of the most famous productions of her career is co-directing the documentary Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker’s Apocalypse. It is a documentary film that captured the struggle and challenges behind&nbsp;her husband's Oscar-nominated movie&nbsp;Apocalypse Now.

Her documentary won two Emmy Awards for "Outstanding Individual Achievement - Informational Programming - Directing" and "Outstanding Individual Achievement - Informational Programming - Picture Editing."

She made her debut in feature filmmaking in 2016 with the romantic comedy Paris Can Wait starring Diane Lane. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Born in Los Angeles, Elenor was raised by her single mother in Orange County, California.&nbsp;

After graduating from UCLA with a degree in applied design. She first met her&nbsp;husband Francis on the sets of his debut movie Dementia 13 in 1962. The&nbsp;two got married in 1963 after finding out that Eleanor was pregnant with their first son, Gian-Carlo. Later, they welcomed two kids &nbsp;Roman and Sofia.

While supporting her husband's career all over the years, Eleanor has raised a family of filmmakers. While, Coppola has been hailed as one of the best filmmakers of the American cinema, their three children went into the movie business.&nbsp;

Gian-Carlo, who has grown up on the sets of his father's films, began doing second-unit photography. Unfortunately, he died in a 1986 boating accident. He was 22. Her other two children&nbsp;Roman is&nbsp;an Oscar-nominated screenwriter and a producer, while Sofia is&nbsp;a&nbsp;director, screenwriter and producer.

“I don’t know what the family has given except I hope they’ve set an example of a family encouraging each other in their creative process whatever it may be,” Eleanor told The Associated Press in 2017. “It happens in our family that everyone chose to sort of follow in the family business. We weren’t asking them to or expecting them to, but they did. At one point Sofia said, ‘The nut does not fall far from the tree.''
