As Hollywood's coveted award ceremony begins, Hollywood stars showed up dressed in black to support Time's Up campaign started by the women of Hollywood to stand up against the sexual predators and general misconduct in the industry

The stars, both women and men (not so surprisingly) could be seen dressed in all black for the occasion -- as a symbol of the highly-talked Time's Up campaign that started off against this prevalent culture of misuse of power in one of the biggest entertainment industries of the world. Their attire as put out by most celebrities is a symbolic statement of solidarity with victims of sexual assault and misconduct exposed last year. Answering 'why black' on the red carpet actress Kerry Washington was quoted: "I'm proud to be wearing black tonight. I'm proud to be wearing black to stand in solidarity with women who have been doing the work for social justice for decades. It's about solidarity and what can be born of women speaking to each other, empowering ourselves" while one of the most vocal voices of the campaign and veteran actress Meryl Streep was seen walking the red carpet with activist Ai-jen Poo. Streep said "We're showing solidarity across a lot of different lines" before adding " we're standing up together." The list included some of the most famous names and A-listers of the industry including Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie, Cara Delevingne, Salma Hayek, Uma Thurman and many others. The Golden Globes is being hosted by Seth Meyers of NBC's Late Night show.
