<p>Special Judge Virender Kumar Goyal awarded the sentence to Rajan and others for offences including forgery of valuable security under the IPC which entails a maximum punishment of life imprisonment.</p>

<p>On Monday, a CBI court convicted &nbsp;Rajendra Sadashiv Nikhalje alias Chhota Rajan and three others in the fake passport case.</p>

<p>Three others who were convicted by the court yesterday were then passport officers-- Jayashree Dattatray Rahate, Deepak Natvarlal Shah and Lalitha Lakshmanan.&nbsp;</p>

<p>They were found guilty of helping Rajan to obtain a fake passport by &ldquo;entering into a criminal conspiracy&rdquo;.</p>

<p>On June 8, 2016, the court framed charges against Rajan as well as Rahate, Shah and Lakshmanan.</p>

<p>The CBI in its chargesheet alleged that Chhota Rajan got issued a fake passport from Bengaluru in 1998-99 in connivance with Rahate, Shah and Lakshmanan in the name of Mohan Kumar.</p>

<p>Rajan is accused in nearly 85 cases, ranging from murder to extortion, smuggling and drug trafficking.</p>

<p>He was deported to India after his arrest in Bali in October 2015.</p>
