An explosion and fire broke out in the engine room of the tanker Kairos in the Black Sea, around 52 miles north of Turkey's Bosphorus strait. The Gambian-flagged vessel was sailing in ballast when the incident occurred, and reports suggest it may have struck a mine and is at risk of sinking. Rescue tugboats and Turkish coast guard units have been dispatched, while shipping traffic through the Bosphorus continues.
