Leaders of Pakistan's Opposition alliance held massive rallies against the Prime Minister Imran Khan-led government in Sindh province on Sunday, marking the 13th death anniversary of former premier Benazir Bhutto.

Speaking at a public meeting in Benazir's hometown, Larkana, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairperson Bilawal Bhutto said the opposition parties have united to rescue Pakistan from the inefficient Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government.

Bilawal, Benazir's eldest son, said the people of Pakistan must similarly unite to save the country.

Addressing a rally virtually, former president and PPP co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari said his wife, Benazir, had always hoped that the PPP would continue to flight for justice.

Zardari said Benazir's death anniversary is the day for ''red salute'', a fitting tribute to the party members.

"I want to ask you not to worry so much; they (the PTI government) have little time left. They will fall due to their own weight," the PPP leader told the supporters.

News channels showed large crowds gathered at the rallies. Benazir's mausoleum, where she was buried next to her father, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, was seen teeming with PPP supporters.

Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) Vice President Maryam Nawaz addressed a rally in Garhi Khuda Baksh, near Benazir's mausoleum.

Maryam said Imran Khan was not fighting the PDM but against 220 million people of Pakistan.

"Your war is not with PDM but with the 220 million people of Pakistan whom you have struck like lightning," Maryam said.

The PDM - an alliance of 11 Opposition parties - has been formed against the Pakistan Army's interference in politics and installing "puppet" Prime Minister Khan through a manipulated election.

Khan faces a serious challenge as the PDM set a January 31 deadline for him to step down or face a "Long March" to Islamabad.

The PDM has held massive rallies in major cities to seek Khan's ouster and press the powerful military to stop interfering in politics. The Pakistan Army has denied meddling in politics. Khan also denies that the Army helped him win the election in 2018.

Pakistan's former military ruler Pervez Musharraf has been admitted to a hospital in Dubai after suffering a reaction from a rare disease that has weakened his nervous system, his party has said.

General (retd) Musharraf, 75, who has been living in Dubai since March 2016, is facing the treason case for suspending the Constitution in 2007, a punishable offence for which he was indicted in 2014.

A conviction for high treason carries the death penalty or life imprisonment.

The former army chief left for Dubai for medical treatment and has not returned since, citing security and health reasons.&nbsp;

Musharraf was rushed to the hospital as an emergency on Saturday night after his condition suddenly worsened, All Pakistan Muslim League (APML)&nbsp; 
Secretary-General Mehrene Adam Malik said Sunday.

APML Overseas President Afzaal Siddiqui told DawnNewsTV that Musharraf suffered a reaction from amyloidosis, a rare condition for which the former president has been receiving medical care.

According to the party, the former president has been advised complete bed rest by doctors till his full recovery.&nbsp;

Siddiqui informed about Musharraf's illness in October last year, saying the former president's disease has "weakened his nervous system". At the time, he was being treated for the condition in London.

"Due to amyloidosis, broken protein starts getting deposited in various organs," Siddiqui said. "[As a result] Pervez Musharraf has difficulty in standing and walking."

Amyloidosis is a rare disease that occurs when a substance called amyloid builds up in a person's organs. Amyloid is an abnormal protein that is produced in the bone marrow and can be deposited in any tissue or organ.

Amyloidosis can affect different organs in different people. Amyloidosis frequently affects the heart, kidneys, liver, spleen, nervous system and digestive tract. Severe amyloidosis can lead to life-threatening organ failure.

The APML official had then said that Musharraf's treatment could continue for up to five or six months.

Upon his full recovery, Siddiqui had said, Musharraf intends to return to Pakistan.

Musharraf, who ruled Pakistan from 1999 to 2008, has been declared a fugitive in the Benazir Bhutto assassination case and the Red Mosque cleric killing case.

Al-Qaeda&#39;s slain chief Osama bin Laden had shifted to Afghanistan to supervise a plot to assassinate Pakistan&#39;s former premier Benazir Bhutto and then military dictator Pervez Musharraf, a media report said today.

Citing intelligence gathered by the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), the News reported that the explosives to execute this plot were provided by the courier of bin Laden.

Bhutto was killed in a gun-and-bomb attack during an election campaign rally on December 27, 2007, outside the Liaquat Bagh in Rawalpindi. The revelation comes exactly on the 10th anniversary of Bhutto&#39;s assassination.

This information was provided to the Interior Ministry in December 2007 by the Army and the ISI in three reports and the letters obtained from the bin Laden&#39;s residence.

In these secret intelligence reports, the ministry was warned that bin Laden had issued orders to kill then-President Musharraf, Pakistan People&#39;s Party&#39;s chief Bhutto and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl chief Fazlur Rehman, the paper said.

The most important letter by the ISI to the Interior Ministry was written on December 19, 2007; the letter was directed to the Interior Ministry&rsquo;s then-director coordination of the Crisis Management Cell Colonel Muhammad Imran Yaqub, the paper said, citing the documents.

The letter, titled &#39;President Musharraf, Benazir Bhutto and Fazlur Rehman&#39;s murder plan&#39;, signed by Lt Col (retd) Zaigham Islam Butt for DG Intelligence said bin Laden has issued the order to kill Musharraf, Bhutto and Rehman.

&quot;He (Osama bin Laden) has planned to send his courier, who is a national of Pakistan and a resident of Multan, named Musa Tariq, through Waziristan with explosives to be used in executing the murder plots. After receiving the letter, the General Staff Branch of the Military Operations Directorate of General Headquarters, on the next day &mdash; December 20, 2007 &mdash; sent a letter to then- interior secretary Syed Kamal Shah.

Six days before Bhutto&#39;s assassination, another letter was issued with the signature of then-chief of the general staff Lt-Gen Salahuddin Satti&#39;s Lt-Col Staff Khurram Shahzad, warning about the terror plot.

Following the assassination of Bhutto, a short letter was sent to bin Laden after two days.
