Officials in Bangladesh say they will take steps to tackle and prevent unlawful practices or interference in its elections. This comes after US says that it is adopting a new policy to restrict visas for Bangladeshis who undermine the democratic election process at home. The US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said under the new policy the United States will restrict issuing visas for any Bangladeshi individual involved in undermining the democratic election process.

A 25-year-old Bangladeshi national, Mujibur Miya, has been arrested by the personnel of the Border Interaction Team of 41 Battalion of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) at Panitanki checkpoint in Siliguri for illegally entering India, reported news agency ANI.

Miya, a driver, illegally entered India from Khilli Border area of Bangladesh, the report added.

Police found bus tickets of his journey from Bangladesh to India in his possession.

In a separate incident on February 13, &nbsp;two persons of Cameroon origin were arrested in Panitanki by BIT personnel of 41 Bn. SSB, Ranidanga, when they had illegally entered Nepal and were on their way to India, the report added.

With more than 50 Singaporeans infected, the country&rsquo;s health ministry confirmed that 21 Chinese nationals and six Bangladeshi nationals have tested positive for the virus. 
 
In a statement sent to Reuters, the foreign ministry, however, added that the health situation was not serious and that some of them had recovered.

&quot;We are carrying out control measures against aedes mosquitoes near the woman&#39;s home to prevent the spread of the virus,&quot; Malaysia&rsquo;s health minister Subramaniam Sathasivam said. 
 
The minister said that the government had intensified vector-control activities in the locality that the woman belonged to. 
Singapore had announced the first locally contracted case of Zika late on Saturday, and the number has grown steadily through this week. 
 
A total of five Malaysians have so far been identified as having tested positive for Zika in Singapore, Sathasivam said. 
Cases of Zika infections were also been reported from Florida last month. 
 
US health officials have concluded that Zika infections in pregnant women can cause microcephaly, a birth defect marked by small head size that can lead to severe developmental problems in babies.
