Nobel laureate and chief adviser to the interim Bangladesh government Muhammad Yunus admitted that Sheikh Hasina's ouster was a well-planned “design and conspiracy”. Yunus was speaking at the Clinton Global Initiative’s annual meeting and said that nothing happened by chance.

Yunus was welcomed on stage by former US President Bill Clinton and President Joe Biden. The Bangladeshi leader paid tribute to student leaders and introduced three of them.

“They are the ones creating the new version of Bangladesh—let’s wish them every success,” he said.

"They look like any other young person, you will not recognise them. But when you see them in action, when you hear them speak, you will be shaking. They shook the whole country," Yunus said about the three students present with him.

He then specifically pointed towards student activist "Mahfuj Abdullah", calling him the "brains behind the whole revolution".

"He denies it repeatedly, he said not me many others. But that's how he is recognised, that he is the brain behind the whole thing."

Yunus further stated that the revolt was "amazingly and meticulously planned" and did not happen suddenly.

"It was very well designed. Even the leadership, people don't know who are the leaders. So you can't catch one and say it's over. It's not over," he said.&nbsp;

"This is the Bangladesh. They are the ones creating the new version of Bangladesh," Yunus said of the student activists.

Biden reaffirmed his country's support for Bangladesh and offered to support it as it implements its new reform agenda. The US-Bangladesh relationship “is rooted in shared democratic values and strong people-to-people ties,” the White House stated.

A student-led movement created a stir in the country, ousting former prime minister Sheikh Hasina from the post. The 84-year-old economist was appointed as the country’s “chief advisor” in August after Hasina fled the country. However, it has been debated whether external forces were behind the revolution.

Meanwhile, earlier reports suggest that an "invisible hand" played a role in removing Hasina.&nbsp;
