India are off to a winning start in the ICC U19 World Cup 2018 after the team defeated Australia by 100 runs in the opening match at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui, New Zealand.

The Men in Blue had posted a mammoth total of 328 runs against Australia, after skipper-opener Prithvi Shaw played a brilliant 94-run knock along with 180 runs partnership with fellow opener Manoj Kalra.

Prithvi Shaw is also named the Player of the Match for his stellar performance.

Shaw faced 100 balls and hit eight boundaries, including two sixes in his innings, falling just six runs short of a century after being caught behind off Will Sutherland.

In-form Manoj also troubled the Australian pacers with his 86-run knock before falling off Param Uppal&#39;s bowling.

Even the Indian bowlers tormented Australian batting to the sword with pacers Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Shivam Mavi claiming three wickets each and ending their innings at 228 after 42.5 overs.&nbsp;

Opener Jack Edwards is the only player in Australian squad to score highest runs, 73 off 90 balls, with the rest of the batting line collapsing early without causing any much harm to India.

Edwards even bowled for his team and claimed four wickets for 65 runs.
