International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) Chief of Global Football Development Arséne Wenger remarked that timely identification of talents and providing them profound coaching at a young age is essential to grow Indian football. Speaking at a press conference with All India Football Federation (AIFF) President&nbsp;Kalyan Chaubey in Mumbai, Wenger said that developing the sport in India is an exciting and interesting endeavour for the global governing body as he insisted upon finding efficient solutions in consultation with all stakeholders of the game in the nation.

Wenger signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on behalf of FIFA with AIFF to set up the inaugural FIFA-AIFF Talent Academy at the Odisha Football Academy in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.

“We are convinced that you have to put the best talents against each other together. Football is learned with the difficulties you experience by playing against good players. We want to identify good talents, give them the best coaching, quality competitions, and after that, the final step is to integrate them within the first team,” Wenger said.

Kalyan Chaubey, President, AIFF, touched upon the driving force that the Indian Super League (ISL) and other stakeholders have been towards taking Indian football forward. He opined that the synergy between the AIFF and the ISL has been paramount for the development of the sport and he motivated all authorities to work in cooperation and ensure that Indian football reaches heights so that years later they can be proud of the day this initiative with FIFA was kicked off.

“The All India Football Federation (AIFF) is having a good synergy with the Indian Super League (ISL), the club owners, and all stakeholders of Indian football. We all have been working for the development of football. The AIFF is asking everyone to push together for progress in the same direction. We can take the support of all stakeholders, so that we can feel proud of this day in the future,” Chaubey remarked.

Wenger agreed on the need to work collaboratively, adding, “This is something that we need to do together. We are here to help. We do not want anything. We just want to give from everything that we have learnt from all the countries in the world. The top one percent footballing countries in the world are the ones with better systems of education. There is a huge correlation between the quality of education and the results of the first-team.”

Wenger quipped that there is a need of having 40 such development academies to fulfil the needs of a country the size of India. However, he was convinced that proper solutions could be met with the help of all concerned stakeholders.

“In the last three days, we spoke a lot about the promise from both sides. I feel that we have cooperation here. Ideally we want 40 academies so that nobody misses to detect talent in this country. Of course, we have to find the most efficient solution and hence we need the cooperation of everybody who has potential here, right from the states, the AIFF, from sponsors who want to develop football, that’s why it’s difficult, but at the same time it is very exciting and interesting for us,” Wenger explained.

Arsene Wenger, one of the most successful managers in Premier League history, recently called it a day to his 22-year long trophy-laden managerial career at the English football club Arsenal.&nbsp;

On April 20, Wenger released a statement annoucing his departure from the club which he held dear for more than two decades.&nbsp; "After careful consideration and following discussions with the club, I feel it is the right time for me to step down at the end of the season," the Frenchman said in the statement.

Wenger has been with the North London club since October 1996 and oversaw over 1228 games, an achievement unmatched in the Premier League history.

Under Wenger's guidance, Arsenal won three Premier League trophies and seven FA Cups. He was awarded Premier League Manager of the Year in 1998, 2002 and 2004.

In the 2015-16 season, Arsenal was in the Premier League title race but lost crucial matches and an embarrassing defeat to Premier League title winner Leicester City, which was promoted from Championship, resulted in trophy once again evading the North London club. The loss to the eventual title winner triggered a worldwide campaign, #WengerOut. The campaign unraveled like a viral fever and Arsene Wenger was at the receiving end as he could not repeat the successes he brought to the club in his glorious initial days.&nbsp;&nbsp;

While the fans expectations hit sky high the club's performance descended to such a disastrous low that the #WengerOut slogans got louder and louder. Besides a top-four finish, fans wanted a league title which was never in sight, resulting in frustration among the fans.&nbsp;

Wenger was expected to go or sacked at the end of 2017 season but instead the club, despite his run of poor performance, offered him two- year contract extension.&nbsp;

A legend like Arsene would never want to go through the phase of sacking and that may have pushed him to call it a day. He quit on his own or was asked to, is altogether a different case but Arsenal without Arsene seems an end of an era. Even there were media reports that few of the Arsenal players were supporting the #WengerOut campaign.

Was this campaign necessary at all?

Good luck, miss you messages are surfacing on the social networking sites but it looks 'fake.'

Even Gary Neville, English football coach and also a pundit, who has slammed Wenger on various occasions, is now sending warms wishes.

Neville said, "The biggest compliment is that he played football that made us change the way we played against them.&nbsp; He now deserves the most incredible send-off from all in the coming weeks."

No farewell would ever compensate the damage that Wengerout campaign has done to value and ethics of Arsenal Football Club.
