<p>The Bangladeshi lawmaker from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's Awami League party, believed to have been killed in India's Kolkata, was skinned, chopped up in an apartment and disposed of in several plastic packets across the east Indian metropolis, investigations have revealed.</p>

<p>The Member of Parliament, Anwarul Azim Anar arrived in Kolkata on May 12 and went missing two days later.</p>

<p>The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of West Bengal arrested Jihad Hawladar, an illegal immigrant from Bangladesh who lived in Mumbai.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to CID sources cited by multiple media outlets, Jihad Hawladar has confessed to his involvement in the murder and dismemberment of the Bangladesh MP's body in an apartment in New Town, Kolkata.</p>

<p>Other details have also emerged of how the crime was planned and executed.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Hawladar has reportedly disclosed that the mastermind was Akhtaruzzaman, a US citizen of Bangladeshi origin.&nbsp;</p>

<p>On Akhtaruzzaman's orders, Hawladar, along with four other Bangladeshi nationals, smothered and killed the Member of Parliament in the New Town apartment.</p>

<p>The authorities found bloodstains inside the New Town apartment and also recovered several plastic bags.</p>

<p>Circumstantial evidence indicates that the lawmaker was first strangled and then his body was cut into several pieces to be disposed off across Kolkata, police said.</p>
