Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay marked the International Day Against Drug Abuse by participating in and completing a 6-kilometre anti-drug marathon at Chennai's Marina Beach.

In a departure from the usual practice of merely flagging off such events, Vijay ran the entire distance alongside participants, using the occasion to promote fitness, youth awareness and a drug-free Tamil Nadu.

The event drew large crowds and highlighted the state's campaign against substance abuse.
