&nbsp;Public Relations Officer (PRO) in the prime minister's office and senior journalist Jagdish Thakkar passed away here Monday. Thakkar, 72, who was unwell for some time, passed away at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences here. 
 
Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled his demise, saying he was a wonderful person who loved his work. 
 
"Extremely saddened by the demise of Shri Jagdish Thakkar, the PRO in the PMO. Jagdishbhai was a veteran journalist and I had the pleasure of working with him for years, both in Gujarat and in Delhi. He was known for his simplicity and warm-hearted nature," the PM tweeted.

He had previously served with many chief ministers of Gujarat.

PRO in Prime Minister's Office Jagdish Thakkar passes away at 72

Union Minister Arun Jaitley held a meeting with the officials of Finance Ministry on Monday after he returned home post&nbsp;successful&nbsp;kidney transplant surgery.

The meeting which lasted for around half an hour was attended by Finance Secretary Hasmukh Adhia, Department of Economic Affairs Secretary Subhash Chandra Garg and Chief Economic Advisor Arvind Subramanian.

In the meeting, the officials briefed Jaitley on various issues related to the Ministry.

A senior official told ANI on the condition of anonymity, "The meeting was held today in the evening through Video Conferencing. It was a stock-taking exercise by Arun Jaitley as he was admitted in AIIMS for past three weeks. Currently, he is under the supervision of doctors and is in a controlled environment".

Jaitley, who had undergone a kidney transplant last month, announced his well being on Twitter today.

He took to Twitter to thank the doctors, nurses and paramedics who assisted him during his treatment.

His twitter read, "Delighted to be back at Home. My gratitude to the Doctors, Nursing officers and the paramedics who looked after me for over the past three weeks. I wish to thank all well-wishers, colleagues and friends who were very concerned and continued to wish me for my recovery".

Jaitley underwent a successful kidney transplant at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on May 14.

Before the treatment, the 65-year-old minister was put on a dialysis for one month.

In September 2014, Jaitley underwent a bariatric surgery to treat weight gain because of a long-standing diabetic condition. The surgery was first performed at Max Hospital, but he had to be later shifted to AIIMS because of complications.

Jaitley had a heart surgery several years ago.

Arun Jaitley returns after kidney transplant, holds meeting with Finance Ministry

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief and former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad arrived at Mumbai`s Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, ahead of his hospitalisation&nbsp;on Wednesday.

He was accompanied by son Tej Pratap, daughter Misa Bharti, and daughter-in-law Aishwarya, and will be admitted to the Asian Heart Hospital for treatment of his heart and kidney related ailments.

Lalu, who has been convicted in three fodder scam cases by a special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Ranchi since December last year, was undergoing treatment at Rajendra Institute Medical Sciences (RIMS) earlier.

He was admitted to RIMS on&nbsp;March 16&nbsp;after he complained of discomfort at Birsa Munda Jail, and was later moved to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi.

The suggestion came after the medical board at the RIMS reviewed the condition of Lalu Prasad and found that his sugar level was high and increasing.

They also said that he had developed some renal problems.

He also reportedly suffers from high blood pressure and diabetes.
