As the West and Soviet Union scrambled to claim the Third Reich's best minds following the war, the US was able to exfiltrate Wernher von Braun, the rocket engineer who designed the Nazi's dreaded V-2 missile, and about a hundred of his top scientists and engineers. They eventually moved to the tiny farming town of Huntsville, where the army transformed a weapons arsenal into a centre for missile development, where they greatly contributed to the Apollo program that put a man on the Moon. Their children still live there and carry their heritage as the US celebrates the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11
