The Delhi's Patiala House Court has convicted gangster Abu Salem in the 2002 extortion case against him.

The gangster has been charged for demanding an amount of Rs 5 crore as protection money from Delhi businessman Ashok Gupta in 2002.&nbsp

On January 15, he had claimed that there was not much evidence available against him in the case.&nbsp

He also said that he was being tried in the case in violation of the order by which he was brought from Portugal to India in 2005.&nbsp

Salem has already been convicted in the 1993&nbspMumbai blasts case and was sentenced to life imprisonment in September 2017.

Infamous for terrorising the Bollywood film industry, the gangster worked in the D-Company as a driver transporting weapons and contraband.&nbsp

The Delhi Patiala House Court has again issued a production warrant against Abu Salem in the 2002 businessman extortion case.

The court&nbsp;directed jail authorities to produce him before the court on March 27.

The court had issued the same warrant in February as well.
