WPL 2023 | RCB-W vs DC-W, As it happened - Openers, Tara five-for hand DC win over RCB

It all started with the DC openers Shafali Varma and Meg Lanning adding 162 runs for the first wicket and Kapp & Jemimah taking them to 200+. RCB started well but kep losing wickets in doubles with Tara Norris, who took a five-for, bowled two double-wicket overs and Alice Capsey bowled one.

Shikha Pandey comes to bowl the last over as RCB bat it out and avoids all-out situation.

Kapp comes for her final over and some good batting by Schutt and Knight here. 14 off the over but too little too late!

Norris bowls her final over as well with an aim to take five wickets and she does! Knight though, takes 10 runs off first two balls as the pair add 50 runs for 8th wicket.

150 up for RCB as well.

Sensational from Norris, takes a five-for. Brilliant cameo from Knight comes to an end.

Finally some runs off Tara as Megan Schutt hits her for two fours in the over.

Jonassen comes on to bowl as RCB try and hang on for meanwhile.

Tara bowls another two-wicket over and takes out RCB's last hope - Richa Ghosh.

Shikha Pandey chips in with a wicket as it just becoming a formality now. 100 up for RCB, meanwhile.

Chops on first ball to point where Shafali takes a good low catch.

Richa hits one down the ground but more height than distance as Jemimah takes an easy catch at long-on.

Tara bowls two-wicket over including Perry's big wicket. Becoming tough for RCB now.

Kapp bowls her third over, concedes just two off it. RCB chase derailing here.

Aims at short-boundary but taken rigth at the boundary by Capsey. Tara delivers sensational over.

Ellyse Perry 31(19) b Tara Norris

Charges down the ground and bottom-edges ball on the stumps! 

Kapp comes on for her second over, and bowls a decent one, giving away just 6 runs. Run-rate piling up for RCB.

Radha Yadav continues as RCB try to rebuild. Perry hit hattrick of fours as RCB nears 100.

Capsey continues for DC as Perry tries opening arms, aiming for shot square boundary on one side. But she takes Smriti out in the over.

Radha Yadav comes on to bowl for the first time. Perry is the key here RCB looks to keep run-rate in check.

Smriti Mandhana 35(23) c Pandey b Capsey

Soft dismissal, Mandhana would be upset. It was a leg-side delivery and just chipped up in the air for a simple catch at fine leg.

Smriti starts final over of powerplay with a four against Jonassen, bringing 50 for RCB.

Jess Jonassen bowls fourth over and Smriti shows intent with back-to-back boundaries.

Alice Capsey comes on for fifth over and takes out Devine, thanks to Shafali pulling off a stunner.

Devine charged down, hitting the ball in the air. Shafali dives to her right and pulls off a brilliant catch at mid-off inches above the ground!

Kapp shares the new ball with Shikha and Smriti takes her on with a 4 and a 6 in first three balls. Mandhana collects one more four in the over with 14 coming off it.

Shikha Pandey bowls her second over and Devine, like DC, hits her for a first-ball four! Pandey continues to offer width and Devine collects two more fours.

Shikha Pandel starts for DC and concedes 3 off the over. Smriti opens with Sophi Devine for RCB.

What a performance by Delhi Capitals. Losing the toss and asked to bat first, the DC openers took full advantage of the flat-track as Lanning (72 off 43)  and Shafali (84 off 45) put on a 162-run partnership for the 1st wicket. 

Heather Knight (2/40 in four overs) took them both in single over but it was too late by then.

Kapp (39 off 17) and Jemimah (22 off 15) then provided the finishing touches for the DC as they added 60 runs in last five overs and ball.

Knight on for penultimate over and Kapp just smashes her for two big ones down the ground! 16 off the over.

Schutt bowls the last over and does well with just one four in the over off first five balls but Kapp closes brilliantly, making it two fours in the over with boundary off the last ball.

Preeti Bose comes to bowl 17th over and Jemimah takes two boundaries. 10 off the over.

Schutt returns for her 3rd over and after first two balls, Kapp takes her on with with a helicopter cut for four.

Heather Knight starts first of final six overs and bowls a juicy fulltoss first up, serving another regular to DC - A first-ball boundary! But pulls back brilliantly, sending both openers back in the same over.

Ellyse Perry comes on for the 16th over of innings with two new batswomen on the ground. Kapp though keeps momentum going with a six and four in the over.

Both the set batters back in the hut with just last five overs starting. Will RCB be able to push back a bit?

Meg Lanning 72(43) b Knight

Lanning charges down the track but misses the ball and gets bowled. A sensational inning, nonetheless.

Preeti Bose comes and another regular - that means first-ball boundary! Total two in the over with 10 coming off it.

Ellyse Perry comes on for thr 14th over of innings and bowls a decent over but with Shafali, with a bit of luck, get a boundary off a top edge.
 

Heather Knight comes on with RCB looking desperate for a wicket! Lanning crosses fifty as well. Shafali hits another six in the over, her fourth this afternoon.

Renuka comes back to try and put on breaks but these two are on fire as DC gets another first-ball boundary. DC openers just toying with the RCB bowling now as Shafali hits three boundaries in the over.
 

Shafali starts 9th over with a six and a four! Lanning takes strike fourth ball goes straight down the ground for four more. And Shafali ends the over with another maximum. 6,4,1,4,1,6 reads the over - 22 off it!

Schutt comes back for 11th and another first-ball boundary!!!! Shafali completes her 50 in the over as well with Lanning just around.

Sobhana Asha bowls her leg-break frist up after powerplay but DC in no mood to let anyone settle as Lanning takes four first ball. Good over after that with just seven coming in total. 

Bose bowls 8th over and again first-ball boundary! Delhi looking dangerous now with both openers still there.

Sophie Devine bowls last over of the powerplay but starts with a wide. But Shafali looks sent in mood today as she collects another four. Meg Lanning backs her partner up with back-to-back fours. 20 off the over!

Preeti Bose comes to bowl her slow left-arm spin and Shafali took her to cleaners the first ball. But Bose did well after that and conceded just 1 in next five balls.

Ellyse Perry comes to bowl the fifth over and almost gets Shafali, who has been belligerent so far but the ball falls short at third-man position. Shafali though responds back nicely and hits a smooth punch for four.

Megan Schutt shares the new ball with Renuka. Shafali though decided to charge after her and scored DC's first boundary on the 3rd ball of the over. Meg Lanning too joined her and got two fours on last two balls.

Renuka comes for her second over and Shafali shows intent by charging early. Lanning, however, connected one nicely and hit Renuka for a boundary.

Renuka starts things off for RCB as Lanning took the strike with Shafali for DC. Good first over from Renuka with only three coming off it.

Toss will take place in about 30 minutes at 3:00 PM local time with match set to start 3:30 PM local time.

After the fireworks by Mumbai skipper Harmanpreet Kaur yesterday against the Gujarat Giants, it would be interesting to see of the tempo of WPL gets carried or not.
