Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis has been ruled out of Australia's clash against Pakistan on Wednesday due to a side strain.

Defending champions Australia, who were aiming to bounce back after losing their third match to India, will have to rely on Glenn Maxwell as their only all-rounder in the squad.

Although Stoinis has not been ruled out the tournament, Mitchell Marsh, who was supposed to tour England with the Australia A team, has been flown in early as cover.

Stoinis will be re-examined before Australia's match against Sri Lanka on Saturday to determine if he will be out of the tournament permanently.

The official statement published on tournament's Twitter account read, "Australia's Marcus Stoinis has been ruled out of tomorrow's #CWC19 game against Pakistan with a side strain."

"Mitchell Marsh has flown over to the UK as cover, though Stoinis remains part of the squad for now," the statement added.
