Police, however, said that 'the investigation is still underway and a final determination of fault has not been made at this time'

A security footage released by the Palm Beach Gardens Police Department shows Venus Williams “lawfully” entered a Florida intersection seconds before she was involved in a fatal crash.

Earlier, police had said Williams was the driver at fault in the June 9 accident that left Jerome Barson, a passenger in the other car, with fatal injuries.

In a statement released on Friday, the Palm Beach Gardens Police Department said: “Based on the evidence obtained in the ongoing investigation, it has been determined the vehicle driven by Venus Williams lawfully entered the intersection on a circular green light signal.”

Police, however, said that “the investigation is still underway and a final determination of fault has not been made at this time.”

78-year-old Jerome Barson, who suffered head injuries in the accident, died two weeks later on June 22.
