UEFA Champions League: Philippe Coutinho debuts for Barca as they face PSV Eindhoven

Philippe Coutinho is desperate to make his Champions League debut for Barcelona as the Catalanstake on Dutch league winners PSV Eindhoven at Camp Nou.

The 26-year-old Brazil international made his £142million move from Liverpool to the Nou Camp in January.

He did not play a single UCL match for Barca in the previous season because he was not eligible due to having previously played for Liverpool in the group stage of the competition before the transfer.

Coutinho watched from the sidelines as UEFA rules stipulate that a player cannot represent more than one club in the same season in the competition.

Barca will kick-off the new season leaving behind the disappointing quarter-finals of last season when they were outplayed by AS Roma.

Coutinho told in a press conference: "It will be a special, important night for me. I'm looking forward to this because I couldn't play in this competition for Barca last season.

"We are Barca and we want to win every competition we play in. The Champions League is a huge competition and we want to do big things.

"It's a very demanding competition because of the quality of the teams involved, but both us players and the fans are really hungry to win it."
