PSL 8: Wasim Akram loses cool, kicks chair in frustration after Karachi Kings' defeat against Multan - WATCH

High-pressure games in cricket do two things to you – it either brings the best out of a player or shows a frustrated side of it. In Wasim Akram’s case, the second one made headlines this time. In the latest match between Multan Sultan and Karachi Kings in PSL 8, the latter suffered its fourth defeat in the season leading to rising frustration in the camp. Not only did the players look disheartened, but Karachi Kings’ President and former Pakistan legend Wasim Akram was also seen kicking the chair in utter despair following a three-run loss on Wednesday.

Electing to bowl first after winning the toss, Karachi bowlers had their backs against the walls from the word go as Multancaptain Mohammad Rizwan went berserk from ball one. Well accompanied by fellow opener Shan Masood - who scored a fifty, Rizwan later stole the show with his magnificent 110 off 64 balls. Hitting 196 for two in 20 overs, Multan had their noses in front.

However, Karachi Kings didn’t fare badly in their chase as they had the target well in their reach all throughout the innings thanks to a high-flying knock from James Vince who hit 75 off 34 balls, smashing seven fours and six sixes. Even though Karachi captain Imad Wasim also made inroads with a quickfire 46 off 26, the side still fell short of claiming the win by three runs.

Upset and rather frustrated with the outcome, Wasim Akram was seen kicking the chair in front of him in a video released by Cricket Pakistan.

Following the result, Karachi is currently sitting in fourth place in the points table with just one win in five matches played so far.

Babar-Amir's on-field tussle broke internet

Earlier in the tournament, other than cricket, what became the talking point was an on-field tussle between Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam and his former Pakistan teammate Mohammad Amir, who plays for Karachi Kings. During the first match between both teams on February 14th, there was an instance when Amir threw the ball towards Babar after being hit for a four on the on-side during the Powerplay.

While Amir received a lot of flak for his actions, Babar, who was at the other end when all of this unfolded, played down any bad blood between both players saying he would rather show his aggression through his batting.

“On the field it's the game of bat and ball. And you always try to put your best foot forward. I try to only focus on my batting, not on other things that can divert my attention, because then, it affects me. The more I simple I keep it, the more it's good for me. I don't think I reacted in any way that time, I kept it quite simple. You can show aggression, mine comes through batting,” Babar Azam said.
