Premier League takes jibe at Nottingham Forest for questioning officials' integrity on social media
Premier League authorities have responded to Nottingham Forest’s claims of questioning the integrity of officials in their match against Everton on Sunday (April 21). Forest on Sunday put up a post on their social media handle having lost 2-0 to Everton, claiming the VAR for the contest was a Luton Town fan. The statement released by Nottingham Forest did not go well with Premier League authorities as they showed their disappointment with howit was handled.

“The Premier League was extremely disappointed to read the comments made by Nottingham Forest on social media yesterday, following its match against Everton,”Premier Leaguewrote on their X handle.
“We noteThe FA has confirmed it willbe investigatingthe club’s statement.It is never appropriate to improperly question the integrity of match officials, and the nature of these comments means the Premier League will also be investigating the matter in relation to the League’s Rules,” the statement added.

On Sunday, Nottingham Forest were denied three penaltiesaccordingto their referee consultantMarkClattenburg. After losing the match 2-0 to Everton, Forest sit just one point off Luton Town, who occupy the final relegation spot. According to Forest, VAR official Stuart Attwell is a Luton fan and could have given the wrong instructions to the on-field referee leadingto their defeat.The consequences of Sunday’s result could see Forestget relegated at the end of the season.
Forest also claimedthatthey had alerted the Premier League of Attwell’s favour for Luton and wanted himto notofficiate in the match.
