The sporting fraternity is keenly awaiting the commencement of the Paris Olympics 2024. The forthcoming showpiece event kicks off on July 27 (Friday) in Paris, France and the Indian fans are hoping for the Indian contingent to replicate their Tokyo Olympics 2020 performance, where they finished with a best haul of seven medals. Neeraj Chopra, one of the big names, is expected to defend his title in men's javelin after he scripted history in the previous edition, attaining gold with a historic 87.58m throw. This time around, he will be under pressure due to the immense expectations but the 24-year-old will be confident to make it two gold medals in a row.

The men's javelin will be held at the iconic Stade de France in Saint-Denis. The qualification round for Neeraj's event will be on August 6. Notably, Group A's qualification round will kick off at 1:50 pm(IST), followed by Group B at 3:20 pm(IST). Should Neeraj qualify, the final will be on August 8, beginning at 11:55 pm(IST​​).

Neeraj became India's first track and field athlete to win Olympic gold. In addition, he became the second Indian after shooter Abhinav Bindra to clinch an individual gold medal at the Summer Games. Thus, all eyes are on him and it will be interesting to see how the youngster responds with the pressure of added expectations on his shoulders this time around.
