After putting many speculations to rest, Manchester United Thursday announced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as its permanent manager on a three-year contract.

Since the announcement, Solskjaer fans are making guesses as to how much the new manager will earn, and will it be somewhere equal to what former sacked manager Jose Mourinho used to earn?

As per several media reports, Solskjaer will earn just half of Mourinho's Old Trafford salary.

Solskjaer has put pen to paper on a worth £7.5million-a-year.

If it's true, the amount will be a fraction of Mourinho's £15million salary he earned during his tenure.

After being confirmed as permanent boss, Solskjaer said: "From the first day I arrived, I felt at home at this special club. It was an honour to be a Manchester United player, and then to start my coaching career here .

"The last few months have been a fantastic experience and I want to thank all of the coaches, players and staff for the work we’ve done so far.

"This is the job that I always dreamed of doing and I’m beyond excited to have the chance to lead the club long-term and hopefully deliver the continued success that our amazing fans deserve.”

Solskjaer succeeded Mourinho as caretaker boss in December after the Portuguese oversaw the worst start for United in Premier League history.

Since he took over the reins, Solskjaer has helped United win 14 of his 19 matches in charge, leading the side to within two points of the top four and to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
