According to a report by Brand Finance Report, Mumbai Indians is the most valuable brand in 2022. 

Mumbai Indians continue to grow as a brand with its brand value increasing twice from $4.7 billion in 2021 to $8.4 billion in 2022. Among all the franchises, Mumbai Indians managed to grow at a more steady rate with a increase of 4 per cent at $83 million from 2021. 

Jofra Archer was sold to Mumbai Indian in the IPL mega auction held last year with a price bid of Rs 8 crore. Archer had played an important role in helping England win the ODI World Cup in 2019. He took the maximum 20 wickets for England in the tournament. Archer has taken 46 wickets in 35 matches in IPL. He took 15 wickets in the 2018 IPL playing for the Rajasthan Royals for the first time.

Though the five time champion, MI has retained most of its players, but Kieran Pollard will not play in the this since the first time in 2010. It has adequate firepower at the top of the batting order and in the middle but will have a bowling all-rounder on its radar who can provide a sixth bowling option. In the spin department, MI will back on more experienced players, like Adil Rashid or Adam Zampa. 

Mumbai Indians got a chance to rejoice as finally their speedster is back into the team after getting recovered from his elbow injury. 

The former South Africa's wicketkeeper Mark Boucher is the new coach of the five times IPL champion team of Mumbai Indians, he talked about Rohit Sharma, "Rohit is a fantastic player and leader. I have played against him before. I think we have got 1-2 things in common, he likes conservation so I think that it will be an interesting chat with him as well. I am really looking forward to just sitting down with him and having a chat around many things. There are certain ways that I coach and I think we will have many interesting conversations" 

Expert panel for the IPL Auction Kumble believes the Mumbai Indians are missing a "marquee spinner" in their lineup. He went on to say that MI could either look for experienced Indian spin options, which he believes is unlikely, or go with overseas options.

He said, "Mumbai Indians don’t have a marquee spinner in their ranks. Kartikeya did really well for them last year. If they have to go for an Indian spinner with experience than they will have to probably go back to Amit Mishra or Piyush Chawla. I don’t see that happening. Perhaps, the only option for them is to go for overseas spinner. Who will it be? There’s Adil Rashid, Tabraiz Shamsi, Adam Zampa".
