'Modric better than Ronaldo and Messi', says Croatia coach Zlatko Dalic on world's best player

Croatia head coach Zlatko Dalic has supportedReal Madrid midfielder Luka Modric as hebids to win The Best FIFA Men's Player award ahead of Juventus' Cristiano Ronaldo and Liverpool's Mohamed Salah.

Dalic hailed Modric's performance and said, "For me, he deserves everything this year. He was the best player in the Club World Cup, and the best player in the World Cup, also the best player in Europe."

Luka Modric, who helped Real Madrid to win the Champions League for a consecutive third season, also won the UEFA Player of the Year.

Since the introduction of UEFA Player of the Year award in 2011, Modric is only the third player other than Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi to win the award.

The previous season was not less than a fairytale for Modric as he led his national team Croatia to the FIFA World Cup 2018 final and won Golden Ball award for being the World Cup's best player.

He was named man-of-the-match three times in Croatia's seven games in Russia.

"For this year, Luka Modric is the best, he is absolutely the best for me. I know I told before (in the past) (Lionel) Messi, and (Cristiano) Ronaldo are the best players in the world, but this year is the year of Luka Modric," said Dalic.
