Liverpool’s Klopp calls Guardiola the best manager in world, comments on 115 charges levelled against Man City

Outgoing Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp praised his competitor and Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola, calling him the best in the world. Klopp will manage Liverpool in his last game against Wolves on the 2023/24 PremierLeague’sfinal day on Sunday, while Pep’sCity will face West Ham with the historic fourth-straight PL title on the line. Klopp also commented on 115 charges levelled against City over financial breaches.

Having faced each other countless times during their stints as respective Premier League managers over the years, Klopp is aware ofPep’sgame and skill set as the coach, saying despite acknowledging the charges levelled against his club, no other manager with the same resources could have achieved what Pep did.

WhilePep’sCity were the defending champions ahead of this season, having won it on the past three occasions, they have a chance to go one step ahead and create history – becoming the first-ever PL club to win four consecutive trophies.

"Everybody knows about the 115 charges, but I have no clue what that means. I onlyknow the number. No matter what has transpired at Man City, Pep Guardiola is the best manager in the world - and that istrulysignificant."

"Put any other manager in, theydon'twin the PL four times in a row.That'sdown to him [Pep Guardiola] and his team. Does that mean they can do whatever they want? No. But Idon'tknow what they did - if anything - andI'mnot here to say they have,”Klopp said during a recent interview.

The verdict will be out oneday

With the Premier League announcing that they have begun an investigation into 115 chargesagainst Manchester City, the verdict could be out any day, with Klopp saying, like everyone, he would also like to know about how faulty they were.

But until the verdict is out, Klopp is unwilling to think about it, instead continues praising Pep for the difference he makes to a competition.

“We'llsee. Of course,I'dlike to know [if Man City are guilty] one day. Everyone wants to know. ButI'llbe somewhere else. The quality of Pep makes the difference, so Idon'tworry about these things.It'snot my problem,”he said.

Meanwhile, Klopp and Pep have faced each other 30 times across all competitions, with the Liverpool boss winning 12 times, losing 11 times and playing a draw eight times.

City is number one on the points table with 88 points, while Arsenal is second (86 points) and Liverpool is third with 79 points.
