
Liverpool are all set to follow in the footsteps of their arch-rivals Manchester United as they look to appoint a new managerat the helmfor the 2024-25 season. With current manager Jurgen Klopp set to leave at the end of the season, the 19-time English champions have set their sights on Arne Slot, current Feyenoord manager. It is reported that Liverpool have opened negotiations withFeyenoord and have made formal contact with the Dutchman for a move to England's top flight.
According to several reports in the Dutch and English media, Slot remains one of the tempting options Liverpool are keeping tabs onat the moment.Thiscomes a week after the Redswere linkedwith Ruben Amiron, current Sporting Lisbon manager. Slotis considered asa good candidatehavingimpressed while working at the Rotterdam-based club. Under his guidance, Feyenoord won the 202-23 Eredivisie title while also taking home the KNVB Cup in the 2023-24 season.
Slot was close to winning a European Trophy with Feyenoord,having finishedrunners-up to AS Roma in the Europa Conference League in the 2021-22 season.
As things stand, Liverpool will have big shoes to fill in the summer when theydecide to announce their successor to Klopp. Current Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso was the prime target to replace Klopp, but he has now committed his future to the club, ruling out a return.
