INDvsNZ: India beat New Zealand by 90 runs in 2nd ODI

India defeated New Zealand by 90 runs in the second ODI at Bay Oval. 

India thus took a 2-0 lead in the five-match series.

Doug Bracewell loses his wicket after a playing a fine innings in a pressure situation.

He scored 57 runs. After his wicket, Trent Boult comes to the crease and hit some terrific shots. 

But as Chahal came back into the attack, he took the last wicket of Lockie Ferguson (12).

Williamson out after scoring 20 runs. He did some hard hittings but eventually lost his wicket on a length delivery when ball destroyed the stumps after getting an inside edge.

Guptill scored 15 runs. 

NZ are at 23-1 after five overs.

After a brilliant batting display by India, New Zealand start 324-run chase in the second contest of the five-match series at the Bay Oval.

During the innings break, Shikhar Dhawan said, "I am very happy with my contribution. It's a good wicket and I think we have got a good total."

He added, "It's a nice surface, it can get a bit slow. We got enough runs on the board, when Indian crowd is there, it's always going to be loud."

The 'Maori' community welcomed the Indian cricket team with their traditional 'Haka' dance before team's practice session at Bay Oval Stadium in New Zealand's picturesque Mount Maunganui. 

Maori are the indigenous Polynesian people of New Zealand, who participate fully in country's sporting culture. They are even well-represented in rugby union, rugby league and netball teams at all levels. 

The New Zealand national rugby union team performs a 'haka', a traditional Maori challenge, before international matches. It is believed that the dance is meant to scare the opponents.

India's opener Shikhar Dhawan said the whole team loved the welcome and the energy the performers created was amazing.

Toss

India won the toss and opted to bat in the second One-Day International match of a five-match series against New Zealand at the Bay Oval. 

After winning the toss, Indian skipper Virat Kohli said, "Looks like a good track to bat. It's about giving ourselves a different challenge. We need to execute our plans."

He added, "We played good cricket in the last few games, we are looking for a few areas to improve." 

On the other hand, New Zeland captain Kane Williamson looked convinced with Virat's decision as he said, "We were looking to bowl."

Williamson added, "There is some grass on the wicket. We have been playing good cricket."

For New Zealand, there are a couple of changes in the squad as spinner Ish Sodhi comes in for Mitchell Santner while Colin de Grandhomme has replaced Tim Southee.

While India will enter the stadium with an unchanged squad.
