New Zealand defeated India by 18 runs to enter the final of Cricket World Cup 2019. 

They will either face Australia or England. 

Chasing 240 runs to win, India were all-out for 221 in the last over. 

In the first innings, New Zealand scored 139 for a loss of eight wickets in a rain-hit match that which was forced into the reserve day. 

Resuming on the reserve day at 211-5, New Zealand added 28 runs from the remaining 23 deliveries. 

Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor scored half-centuries to help New Zealand post a modest total. 

Williamson won the toss on Tuesday and opted to bat at a venue where teams batting first had won all five previous matches in the tournament.

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson won the toss and elected to bat under overcast skies at Old Trafford. 

The 2015 finalists made a change, bringing in a fit-again Lockie Ferguson, their leading wicket-taker in the tournament, and leaving out fellow quick bowler Tim Southee.

"It looks like a good surface," New Zealand captain Kane Williamson said.

"Always a toss up with the overheads but I’m not sure this is around all day so we need to do the job first up.

"We have a great opportunity today against a great side in India and we’ll be looking for an improved performance, as we do in all our matches."

Twice champions India also made a change to the side that beat Sri Lanka in their final group match, bringing in Yuzvendra Chahal in place of fellow wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav.

"We would have batted first, it's a good surface, nice and hard, it’s not moist or anything," India skipper Virat Kohli said.

"We’ve played really good cricket in Manchester, two really good game, it’s just about doing the same things again."

India and New Zealand are playing each other for the first time in this year's tournament after the group match between the sides in Nottingham was washed out.

Tuesday's game is a repeat of the semi-final of the 2008 Under-19 World Cup in which a Kohli-led India defeated a Williamson-captained New Zealand in Kuala Lumpur.

In case the match gets washed out, reserve days will be in place for both semi-finals and final of the tournament.

The semi-finals of the tournament will be played between India-New Zealand and Australia-England.

the weather is expected to get drier in the afternoon but it's going to be humid as well and overcast.  

The official site of Met Office gave a forecast for Tuesday's weather, it published, "Much of Cumbria and Lancashire will have patchy rain on and off throughout the day. Manchester, Merseyside and Cheshire will be rather cloudy but avoid most of the rain. Maximum temperature 20 °C.

The rain is expected to affect the crucial first hour of the match, according to the weather report.

So far in the tournament, teams batting first have won each of the five games played at Old Trafford. Considering the conditions, both captains will look to bat first.
