Pakistan beat England by 14 runs
Pakistan defeated England by 14 runs in the Match 6 of the Cricket World Cup 2019 on Monday at Trent Bridge.
Despite Joe Root and Jos Buttler's centuries, England failed to chase down the mammoth 349-run target.
Pakistan bowling unit kept taking wickets on regular intervals that favoured the team.
With the win, Pakistan end 11-match losing streak.
Earlier, Pakistan put their woeful start to the World Cup behind them on Monday, racking up a hefty 348 for eight wickets at Trent Bridge after being put in to bat by hosts and tournament favourites England.
Mohammad Hafeez top-scored with 84 off 62 balls including eight fours and two sixes, while Babar Azam made 63 and captain Sarfaraz Ahmed belted a quickfire 55.
England banked on the pace of Chris Woakes and Jofra Archer for early wickets, no doubt hoping to recreate the way the West Indies skittled Pakistan out for 105 on Friday.
Instead, opening batsmen Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq delighted their vocal supporters by belting a string of fours and one six in an opening partnership of 82.
England spinner Moeen Ali finally broke the pair up, claiming the wicket of Fakhar (36) when he miscalculated the spin and was stumped by keeper Jos Buttler.
Woakes took a diving catch at extra cover to dismiss Imam-ul-Haq (44) six overs later, giving Moeen his second wicket of the morning and leaving Pakistan on 111-2.
Babar and Mohammad Hafeez then steadied the ship for Pakistan with a partnership of 88 runs - partly helped by England's Jason Roy dropping a relatively easy catch off Hafeez when on 14 at mid-off. The home side, indeed, were uncharacteristically ragged in the field for most of the innings.
Moeen and Woakes combined again for the next wicket, when Babar mistimed and lofted the ball towards mid-on where Woakes dived forwards to scoop up the catch.
Hafeez was eventually caught, hitting the ball low towards mid-off where Woakes gleefully snatched his third catch of the day.
Woakes matched his performance in the field with three late wickets, leaving England with a challenging, record-setting target. The best successful World Cup run chase to date came in 2011 when Ireland made 329 against England.

Just after completing his half-century, Babar Azam losses his wicket.
Moeen Ali strikes again as Azam caught by Chris Woakes.
Next batsman is Sarfaraz Ahmed.
Babar Azam scored 63 runs.
Pakistan are 200/3 after 33 overs.
They have crossed the 200-run mark.
But what is the defendable score for Pakistan?

First wicket!
Fakhar Zaman stumped!
It was very close as the on-field umpire referred the decision to the third umpire.
But wicket-keeper Jos Buttler was confident.
Although the bowler was Moeen Ali but the credit should go to Buttler.
The third umpire confirmed it as Zaman's back-foot was inch-behind the line.
It's a massive breakthrough for England as the batsman was looking good with his bat.
Zaman scored 36 runs off 40 balls.
Next batsman is Babar Azam.

The ground is renowned as a batsman's paradise, with England having twice set the world record for the highest score in a one-day international --- 444 for three against Pakistan in 2016 and last year's 481 for six -- on the very pitch that will be used for Monday's match at Trent Bridge.

Preview:
Eoin Morgan-led England will take on Pakistan at Nottingham's Trent Bridge stadium.
Hosts England are coming off from a win against South Africa on the other hand, Pakistan suffered defeat West Indies in their previous match.
England, who launched their quest to win the World Cup for the first time with a 104-run rout of South Africa at the Oval in which fast bowler Jofra Archer starred may now, in the light of Pakistan's problems against short-pitched bowling, unleash Wood in partnership with the Sussex speedster.
England may recall fast bowler Mark Wood.
"We're aware of what went on yesterday," England assistant coach Graham Thorpe said Saturday. "It was interesting viewing.
"The West Indies bowled very well, they looked like they roughed Pakistan up," the former England batsman added.
"I think it (drafting Wood) will be discussed, to be honest.
Wood has bowled a mere 13.1 overs since the start of the season amid fears his longstanding left ankle injury could flare up again.
On the other hand, Pakistan may have lost their last 11 one-day Internationals but bowling coach Azhar Mahmood says England must not forget his team’s resilient performance in the Champions Trophy two years ago.
“We are one win away from coming back, and that's what happened in Champions Trophy," Mahmood said.
