England defeated New Zealand to win the Cricket World Cup 2019 title. 

The match was tied and went in the super over, the super over also tied and England won the title on the verge of scoring more boundaries in the match. 

New Zealand posted 241 for a loss of eight wickets against England in World Cup final. 

Eoin Morgan's side were fuelled by three wickets each from Liam Plunkett and Chris Woakes on a green-tinged pitch in cloudy conditions that aided the pace bowlers at Lord's. 

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson had elected to bat first, but his gamble backfired, with only Henry Nicholls (55) reaching a half-century for the 2015 World Cup runners-up in their 50 overs.

Kane Williamson: "I think England rightly so deserve to be favourites. Coming into this tournament from the start, they were favourites and they've been playing really good cricket," a relaxed-looking Williamson told a news conference when asked if his side were underdogs.

"Whatever dog we are, it's just important that we focus on the cricket that we want to play and we have seen over the years that anybody can beat anybody regardless of breed of dog."

While many members of the home side were not even born when England made the last of three losing appearances in a World Cup final in 1992, the Black Caps have the experience of their heavy defeat by co-hosts Australia in the climax of the 2015 edition in Melbourne to call on. 

Conditions:

Early morning showers are forecasted but for the rest of the day, the weather for today's match at Lord's is expected to be dry. Low clouds will gradually clear to give some sunny spells in afternoon and evening.
