WPL Mega Auction 2026: The first mega auction since the start of league in 2023 will see 277 players going under the hammer for 73 slots. The auction is taking place in New Delhi on Thursday (Nov 27) with January 2026 window set to host the tournament.
Women's Premier League Mega Auction 2026: The first mega auction of WPL since the league started in 2023 is all set to take to place on Thursday (Nov 27) in New Delhi. A total of 277 players will be going under the hammer for a maximum of 73 slots available. Among the 277, 83 players are foreign nationals. The auction will start with the bidding of marquee player set which has eight names in it including Indian duo of Deepti Sharma and Renuka Singh. The five franchises have already submitted the list of players retained and are left with Right to Match (RTM) cards accordingly.
A total of 277 players have registered for the auction including 83 foreign players in which 23 are from Australia, 22 form England, 13 from New Zealand, 11 from South Africa, and three each from Sri Lanka as well as Bangladesh.
UP Warriorz have the biggest purse available with INR 14.50 crore in bank. Gujarat Giants come next with a purse of INR 9 crore, followed by RCB (INR 6.15 crore), Mumbai Indians (INR 5.75 crore), and Delhi Capitals (INR 5.70 crore).
Back for the accelerated auction and S Meghana is the first name in and she’s unsold. Saika Ishaque’s name comes out next and MI buy her for Rs 30 lakhs.

Triveni Vasistha came up next and the Mumbai Indians opened the bidding, picking her up for 20 lakhs. After that, Suman Meena was bought by UP Warriorz. RCB added Gautami Naik to their squad for 10 lakhs, and Nalla Reddy was sold to the Mumbai Indians for 10 lakhs as well.
Chloe Tryon came up next and UP Warriorz picked her for her base price of 30 lakhs. After her, Lucy Hamilton went under the hammer and Delhi Capitals bought her for 10 lakhs.
Tara Norris of the USA is now a GG player who snap her up for Rs 10 lakhs.
Poonam Khemnar went unsold at first, but the Mumbai Indians jumped in and picked her up for 10 lakhs. Right after that, Shivani Singh came up, and Gujarat Giants secured her for the same price.
Simran Shaikh is sold to UPW for Rs 10 lakhs.

Gujarat Giants only retained two players from the squad - Australia duo of Ash Gardner and Ben Mooney for INR 3.5 crore ($395,000) and INR 2.5 crore ($280,000), respectively.
The Warriorz made the most surprising decision among all teams by releasing Deepti Sharma. The Indian all-rounder is second in terms of run scored and wickets taken for the franchise. The Warriorz only retained one player - ucapped Shweta Sehrawat for INR 50 lakh ($56,000).
The 2024 WPL winners retained four of a maximum five players including Smriti Mandhana. They will also have one Right to Match (RTM) card available during the auction which they can use to buy back one their released players.
The three-time WPL finalists chose to retain all five players from the squad including Jemimah Rodrigues who played one of the best innings in WODIs chases of 127 not out to help India beat Australia in Women's World Cup 2025 semis.
The two-time champions retained a maximum of five players including skipper Harmanpreet Kaur. They also retained G Kamalini as uncapped India player. Here's how much they paid to each retained player:
Two-time champions Mumbai Indians along with three-time finalist Delhi Capitals chose to retain a maximum of five player. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) retained four players while Gujarat Giants kept two and UP Warriorz (UPW) retained only one in Shweta Sehrawat.
A total of eight players are in the marquee set: Sophie Devine, Sophie Ecclestone, Alyssa Healy, Meg Lanning, Amelia Kerr and Laura Wolvaardt apart from Indian duo of Deepti and Renuka. All the marquee set players have kept their base price at a maximum of INR 50 lakh, except Renuka (INR 40 Lakh) and Wolvaardt (INR 30 lakh).
