Laver Cup 2018: Team Europe retain the title

Alexander Zverev defeated Kevin Anderson as Europe retained their Laver Cup team tennis crown here Sunday with a 13-8 victory over Team World.

Zverev's 6-7 (3/7), 7-5, 10-7 win over South Africa's Anderson came with one singles rubber remaining at Chicago's United Center.

The victory sees Europe hold onto the title they won at the inaugural edition of the tournament in Prague last year.

The Laver Cup is an international indoor hard court men's tennis tournament between two teams: Team Europe and Team World, the latter of which is composed of players from non-European countries.

This is the second edition of the tournament, which held annually and takes place two weeks after the US Open, with the location rotating.
